Change My Photo (Gravatar) in Members Phone List

In the phone list, you will see a small gray head and shoulders picture by default. You can change this in TWO ways.

FIRST WAY:

You can just add a picture to the WMRC website. This will only be for this website and not used anywhere else. This is the easiest method.

Here are the Steps:

  1. Update your Profile. Select the Silhouetted head and shoulders (My Details) in the top right hand side of the menu and select Update My Profile
    Help - My Details
  2. Then scroll to the bottom of your Profile and click on the blue UPLOAD button next to Avatar (Photo of your Face). This will allow you to select an existing photo from your computer or take a new one from your webcam if you have one.
    Help - Upload Gravatar
  3. From there, follow the instructions on each screen

SECOND WAY:

This is a little more complex but is helpful to you into the future. You can have your picture associated with your email address. Any sites you submit your email address to can automatically reference the image you provide. It saves you having to do this every time. It is called a Gravatar (a Google Avatar).

Here are the Steps:

  1. Visit the Gravatar website to sign up. It’s located at: http://gravatar.com. There is a “Create Your Own Gravatar” button.Create-a-Gravatar-Step-1
  2. Enter your email address and click on “Get Your Gravatar”.
    Create-a-Gravatar-Step-2
  3. You will receive a confirmation email. Click on the provided link and you will be able to choose how to input your image.
    Create-a-Gravatar-Step-3
  4. Crop your image by moving the box that is overlaid on the image you choose. Then click on “Crop and Finish”.
    Create-a-Gravatar-Step-4
  5. Choose an image rating that reflects the content of your avatar.

    • Be aware that the use of an image that is X-rated will automatically prevent you from using it on a number of websites.
      Create-a-Gravatar-Step-5
  6. Start using it. When you visit websites, like WaverlyMRC, that enable the avatar, you should now find it appearing as an option when joining or using the website.Go have a look at the Members Listings now… you will see you picture instead of the gray head and shoulders image.

How to Change Member Role (Pending->Member->Life Member->Ex Member) or add Additional Roles to Members (Executive Member, Life Member)

There are several reasons to change the Role of a User Account on our website. For example, all new Membership Applications are automatically given the Role of Pending Member until finalised by the Executive Committee. Then the Pending Member needs to be updated to the role of Member. Or a Member may leave the club and their role is changed to ex Member.

There is a Primary Role of Pending Member, Member, ex Member, Subscriber (subscribers are hackers and we always delete these accounts!) or Administrator.
There is also a Secondary Role of Executive Member, and Life Member that can be applied in addition to the Primary Role.

Here are the Steps:

You must have a Role of Executive Member or Administrator to complete the following steps:

  1. Under the High Level Menu Bar (visible to Executive Members), click on the menu Item Waverley Model Railway Club. Then from the drop down box, select Dashboard.
    Role-Update-Step-1
  2. Scroll down the left hand side menu and click on USERS
    Role-Update-Step-2
  3. You can verify current Primary Role and Secondary (Other) Role for each member visually from the list. Then select the User to Edit by clicking on their name.
  4. In the Edit User page that is now opened, scroll down to Role (a drop down box) and change to one of Pending Member, Member, or ex Member.
  5. Scroll a little further down the page to Additional Capabilities, Other Roles. Then select all other additional Roles from the drop down box
    Role-Update-Step-5
  6. Then scroll all the way to the bottom of the form and click on the Blue Update User
    Role-Update-Step-6

    DCC-Update-Step-1
  2. Then select which user to edit by selecting their name from the Drop Down box:
    DCC-Update-Step-2
  3. Once the page has refreshed and the user you selected has been loaded, scroll down to the DCC Range Begin and DCC Range End fields and add the next available range to the Member (enter a four digit code in each e.g. 1200 and 1299)
    DCC-Update-Step-3
  4. Then scroll right to the bottom of the page and click on the blue Update Button
