Oswego is a small town situated some 60 miles from the State Capital, Baldwin.

The Baldwin & Oswego Railroad Company has survived because its route has become part of the Interstate Trunk Line, following the closure of other lines. As a result, many of the larger railroads still operating have acquired running rights.

In addition, there is a concentration of local industries here that are best served by rail.
